I'm now on a journey through Japan. Left Berlin and visited Tokyo, Kyoto, Fukui, Osaka, Chizu, Antaiji, and now reached Yonago, my parent's country side.
Yesterday, I met the lady who I got to know just a few days ago by sheer coincidence at a bakery nearby. As we chatted, I was surprised to find out that there is a plan to construct a "Waste Management Facility" in this area, at the foot of beautiful Mt. Daisen.
First of all, I felt grave reflection that I am one of a course of this waste problem, producing so much wastes in the city life. What a shameful state as a Zen monk! Why did Dogen-Zenji(founder of the head Zen temple -Eiheiji) kept on practicing the life without environmental load...
Next, I felt great esteem for the people I met in my life, especially last week, who are sincerely practicing the way harmonized with nature, such as Yosuke, Nao, Itaru, Mariko, Muho...
There will be a lecture about this waste problem the day after tomorrow 21 May(sun, tomorrow right now) in Yonago Culture Hall.
If you have some relation to the problem, please think about the event.
There will be another event, on the 1.2.3 June. My friend Bernd will invite Mari Fujii and host an Shojin Ryori(Traditional Vegan Zen-Temple Cuisine of Japan)
Please also visit the event if you have some interest towards this topic.
I leave for Nara this weekend and will keep on traveling. It will be difficult to update blogs. I would like to express my deep appreciation for the support provided for the enactment of this journey.
with gratitude and prayers
